Lua Vermelha is a show for young audiences that invites the public to journey through an interstellar imaginary as a metaphor for social transformation and the construction of possible futures.
The story follows Alex and Kim, child astronauts driven by curiosity and the desire to explore the cosmos. The mission that was meant to take them to the Moon is redirected to Mars, where they discover a society organized around cooperation, gender equality, and the understanding of collective care as a central value for life in community.
The dramaturgy draws on the thinking of bell hooks, who understands education — including aesthetic education — as a practice of freedom. Lua Vermelha presents children with characters who act with courage, sensitivity, imagination, and critical capacity, breaking away from stereotypes and expanding possible horizons. The protagonist Alex takes on a decisive role in the story's scientific discoveries, symbolizing the historical — and often invisible — presence of women in science, technology, and humanity's great achievements.
Combining humor, poetry, fantasy, and knowledge, the show offers young audiences a sensitive experience in which fun and reflection go hand in hand, strengthening the bonds between children, families, and culture.
Premiered in 2024 in Piracicaba, Lua Vermelha has since toured Birigui, Sorocaba, Bauru, Ribeirão Preto, São Caetano do Sul, Campinas, Santo André, São Paulo, and São Carlos, and was also selected for touring under PNAB 29/2025, with performances across 10 cities in the interior of São Paulo.
